The MRG Group hosted Whistler’s largest‑ever music event in March, with programming running from afternoon to late evening and drawing more than 13,000 attendees over two days. AWARE Whistler’s social enterprise, Zero Waste Heroes, was engaged to deliver comprehensive event‑waste‑management services to support compliance with local bylaws and reduce waste sent to landfill.

Our Role

To manage waste responsibly across a high‑volume, high‑energy festival site, Zero Waste Heroes deployed:

  • Seven staffed waste‑sorting stations each day
  • Zero Waste Community Advisors at every station
  • Two on‑site Team Leads overseeing operations, consolidation, and end‑of‑day waste management
  • Coordination with GFL Environmental for hauling services
  • Collection of refundable beverage containers, donated to Whistler Community Services Society

  • Attendance: 13,000+ over the weekend
  • Waste Stations: Seven stations operating across the festival site

  • 960 kg of refundable beverage containers collected and donated to Whistler Community Services Society
