Why AWARE? I believe citizen science is the most important way to engage our community in the crucial environmental issues, and AWARE is recognized as Whistler’s voice for the environment.
Why Nature? I have devoted my life to the conservation of nature, and chose to retire to Whistler so I can be immersed in nature every day. My research in vineyards and wildfire mitigation, have demonstrated that nature-based solutions are more sustainable, cost-effective and simultaneously address multiple responsibilities of government (mitigating the impacts of climate change, maximizing biodiversity and providing human well-being).
