Waste Reduction Toolkit for Whistler Businesses

Waste Reduction Toolkit for Whistler Businesses

AWARE recently took a stroll through Whistler Village to discuss waste reduction with local businesses and inform them about the new Single-Use Regulations, which took effect on July 15, 2024. These regulations target hard-to-recycle plastics and include compostable plastics, which were previously used extensively.

In collaboration with the Resort Municipality of Whistler, AWARE developed a Waste Reduction Toolkit and distributed it to 36 businesses along the village stroll. The initiative primarily focused on takeout service providers, aiming to enhance education and help businesses minimize contamination in the village bins. This effort is a key step toward achieving Whistler’s zero-waste goals.
