Small Steps for Big Moves Month Two!

This October, let’s reduce our waste

Whistler’s Climate Action BIG MOVES Strategy identifies the six most impactful action areas we need to focus on as a community to reduce emissions and make Whistler a more climate resilient community. Working with the RMOW we have developed the ‘Small Steps for Big Moves’ campaign to create actionable steps that anyone and everyone can take to make a positive impact.

October’s theme is ‘Love This Place, Reduce Out Waste’ which is great timing (it’s like we planned it that way!!) as communities across Canada celebrate the 20th anniversary of Waste Reduction Week. Join us taking steps to learn more about the circular economy, resource efficiency, and waste reduction and to take action in our day-to-day habits and hobbies!
Ready to take action? Check out steps you can take:

Fungus Among Us Festival

Presented by the Whistler Naturalists Society, this two-day mushroom festival from October 15th – 16th unites fungophiles around presentations and guided walks by mushroom experts, a gourmet wild mushroom tasting and a mushroom display, which allows participants to gather, share conversation and explore the day’s many finds. AWARE is proud to be the charitable partner for this Whistler Naturalist’s annual event.

The guided walks sold out within 24 hours but you can ZOOM in for mushroom talks and attend the mushroom display.

Creekside Garage Sale
